Aaron J. Miller, MD, MPA, President & Executive Director
Aaron worked for 10 years in the Bronx, New York, as a general pediatrician and child abuse pediatrician. For the last six years, he was the Director of the Lincoln Child Advocacy Center at Lincoln Medical Center, where he worked closely with social workers, psychologists, child protective services, police and prosecutors to provide expert evaluation and treatment of children suspected of being abused.
Aaron's international development work began in 2009 in Malawi when he partnered with community leaders in Blantyre and Zomba to provide trainings and capacity development for doctors, nurses, police, magistrates and social services on the diagnosis and treatment of child maltreatment. Aaron completed a Master of Public Administration, concentrating in International Development, from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs in 2010, and he recently co-edited a new child maltreatment medical curriculum for the International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect.
Jonathan L. Bing, JD
Jonathan is a partner in the government affairs practice of Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP, New York State’s top-rated lobbying group for the past sixteen years. Jonathan also practices insurance regulatory and employment law at the firm which is comprised of nearly 800 attorneys located in 24 offices around the United States.
Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Mr. Bing was appointed by Governor Andrew Cuomo as the Special Deputy Superintendent of the New York Liquidation Bureau and served as the chief executive officer of the 260-employee entity with a $60 million budget.
Before the NYLB, Mr. Bing was elected to five terms representing the Upper East Side and East Midtown Manhattan in the New York State Assembly. During his tenure, Mr. Bing authored 85 bills that passed the Assembly, 35 of which also passed the Senate and were signed into law by four New York governors.
Jonathan received his J.D. from the New York University School of Law, a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, and a 2009 Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from LIM College. In addition to BRANCH, Jonathan also serves as a board member of Primary Stages theatre company, member of the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Governmental Affairs, and board member of the NYU Law Alumni Association.
John Coyle, Chair, Audit Committee
John is a Partner at Boston Consulting Group in their Healthcare group. Prior to joining BCG, John was a partner in Oliver Wyman’s Health and Life Science Consulting Practice working with clients who are engaged in transforming healthcare to be more affordable, accessible and effective for all. Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, John was a Managing Director and Partner for Accenture. At Accenture John held a variety positions including, most recently, leading the IT Strategy and Transformation practice serving Healthcare and Public sector clients in North America. During his 18 years in consulting John has worked across industries and across the globe serving a diverse array of clients including Hospital systems, Insurance companies, High Tech firms, Private Equity firms, Retailers, the United Nations, the City of New York, numerous states as well as the US, Canadian and Mexican Federal government agencies on topics of busines transformation and strategy. John holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and was sponsored by Andersen Consulting to attend the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Ryan Shanberg, MPA
Ryan Shanberg is a banker in the Financial Institutions Group at RBS Securities, Inc and was previously a Market Risk Analyst at MF Global. Mr. Shanberg received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Finance and minor in Economics from Hofstra University, Frank G. Zarb School of Business in 2007. He also earned a Master of Public Affairs with a concentration in International Economics from Columbia University, School of International and Public Affairs in 2010.
Mary Shippy, PhD, PCC, Chair, Community Leadership Development Committee
Mary is a global leadership consultant with expertise in organizational development, leadership facilitation and is a senior executive coach. Her focus is on leadership transition, multi-cultural management, cross-cultural and executive communication which concentrates on both personal awareness and skills that lead to leadership focus, adaptability and mastery. Mary has coached the senior leaders including the “C” suite and VP’s within a variety of industries, she has led executive coaching cadres in the realignment process of organizations in leadership, new business initiatives, succession and cultural transitions and she coaches leaders in executive transitions.
Mary received a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Development from Union Institute & University where she focused her research on multicultural leadership. She holds a M.A. in Intercultural Studies and a B.A. in Education. She has been a New Ventures West Certified Integral Coach since 2001 and holds a PCC credential with the International Coaching Federation.
